Same-Sex Attraction
Dear Donna,
I can't help it, I feel incredibly attracted to the young man who serves behind the counter at my local post office. I've tried to tell myself it's only an adolescent crush, but I'm twenty-eight years old and I can't fool myself any more. It's sexual, I want him in the most physical way. But I'm a happily married man, fortunately without children.
Are my feelings vile? If I approach him, am I condemning myself to a life of vileness? And the young man too?
Leahcim Sorrim
Dear Mi - I mean, Leahcim,
There's nothing wrong with being attracted to a person of the same sex. I myself have been attracted to entire netball teams. Don't think of yourself as vile because of your sexual orientation.
No, think of yourself as vile for being attracted to a POSTAL WORKER! Anyone closely involved with stamps and envelopes is irredeemably VILE! I could quote you hundreds of examples. I've seen lives ruined, common decency overthrown, abnormal liaisons and tragic consequences. Stay away from your local post office if you want to remain unvile. Fight down your postal orientation! Repress your mail inclinations!
I know it'll be a struggle, but you'll thank me in the long run.
Donna
